What to expect?
A Ruby-focused meetup as part of a larger, multi-community event
Networking with developers from different tech stacks
Talks and sessions (agenda coming soon!)
The unique energy of Behind The Code
This time we prepared for you two topics: "AI Gateway - what is it for? Does my project need one?" and "Beyond Senior: The Path to Staff Engineer in a Global Organization".
AI Gateway – What Is It For? Does My Project Need One?
If you're curious about AI Gateways and their role in modern projects this session is for you! Jakub will explain their purpose, lessons from the LiteLLM attack, and insights from his open-source AI Gateway GOModel (https://github.com/ENTERPILOT/GOModel/) helping you decide if your project needs one.
Beyond Senior: The Path to Staff Engineer in a Global Organization
You’ve reached Senior—but what comes next? This talk maps the path to Staff Engineer, exploring real-world frameworks, archetypes, anti-patterns, and practical tools to amplify your influence across teams in global organizations.
Whether you’re a long-time PLRUG regular or just Ruby-curious, come join us for an evening of learning, sharing, and community.
Come for Ruby, stay for the people.
During the workshop, participants will explore how immersive environments and the metaverse can be used to create engaging experiences for organizations, initiatives, and audiences. Building on the EUonAIR project and its virtual learning environment, the session will introduce key metaverse concepts and invite participants to reflect on how virtual spaces, avatars, interactive elements, and storytelling can support communication, visibility, and engagement. The workshop will have a practical and inspiring format, combining a presentation with a short interactive exercise and discussion.

I once believed great software came from perfect APIs and a single universal style. That belief didn't survive contact with reality. Software is also defined by usefulness, strategy, trade-offs, and even human emotion. Through the lens of CPython, I'll share a journey of fixes that weren't worth making, "brilliant" ideas that didn't cut it, and surprisingly simple edge cases in your code that you'll never unsee.
Take the stage and pitch your idea!
Seize the opportunity to connect with the Venture Café community during our Open Pitch Sessions. Selected startups will have around 5 minutes to present their solutions, followed by immediate feedback from a panel of expert reviewers. It’s a unique chance to engage with startups, angels, and investors – all in one place!

This session approaches multi-agent systems from a distributed systems perspective. Rather than focusing on individual agents, we will examine how to design and operate systems composed of multiple decision-making components interacting with traditional services.
We will cover architectural patterns such as linear pipelines, DAG-based execution, and event-driven designs, and analyze how orchestration can be implemented using tools like LangGraph, Temporal, and Argo Workflows.
A significant part of the talk will focus on communication models: synchronous interaction via REST and gRPC, shared state approaches using databases or Redis, and asynchronous messaging via systems such as Apache Kafka and NATS. We will discuss trade-offs in coupling, latency, scalability, and failure handling.
We will also break down real-world system composition, including AI agents, microservices, data layers, and infrastructure, and address operational challenges such as retries, idempotency, observability, and cost control in distributed environments.
Finally, we will walk through a practical example, incrementally transforming a single-agent setup into a multi-agent architecture with explicit coordination and communication patterns.
